SOAK is the stage name of Bridie Monds-Watson, who writes and performs from Derry in Northern Ireland. Her debut EP 'Sea Creatures' came out in 2012, followed by another called 'B a Nobody' the next year. In 2015 she released her first full-length album, 'Before We Forgot How to Dream,' which reached number one on the Irish charts.
Her songs often deal plainly with personal experience, and titles like 'Blud,' 'Knock Me Off My Feet,' and 'baby, you're full of shit' give a sense of her direct, unvarnished approach. She has worked with other artists including Lisa Hannigan and Bon Iver.
Later albums include 'Grim Town' from 2019 and 'If I Never Know You Like This Again' from 2021. Her music tends to sit in an indie folk space, sometimes leaning into ambient or electronic textures, but it's the writing that usually comes through first.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
