Tankard

Tankard formed in Frankfurt in 1982, a German thrash band that built a reputation on raw aggression and lyrics that didn't take themselves too seriously. Their debut album 'Zombie Attack' came out in 1986, and they've kept at it with a steady stream of records since. Songs like 'Chemical Invasion' and 'Die With A Beer In Your Hand' give you a fair idea of what they're about.

Vocalist Andreas Geremia, who goes by Gerre, has been the constant presence through various lineup changes. The current group includes Andy Gutjahr on guitar, Frank Thorwarth on bass, and Michael Keller on drums. They still tour and put out new material, working in the same general territory they've occupied for decades.

Their third album 'The Morning After' from 1988 had a track called 'Puke' that became something of a signature for them. It's the kind of song that sums up their approach, loud, fast, and with a sense of humor about the whole metal lifestyle. They've never been the kind of band to worry much about polish or broader acceptance.
