Tenhi

Tenhi formed in Joensuu, Finland in 1996 around Tyko Saarikko, Ilkka Salminen, and Olli-Pekka Laitinen. They've worked with Finnish folk elements and heavier sounds, though calling them strictly folk metal might oversimplify what they do. Their songs like 'Salain' and 'Hallavedet' have a quiet, atmospheric quality that feels more rooted in mood than genre conventions.

Their debut album 'Väre' came out in 1999, and they've released several others since, including 'Sailan'. The music often features Saarikko's vocals alongside acoustic instrumentation and darker textures. Keyboardist Jarkko Viinamäki and bassist Kaarlo Kurki have also played with the group at different points.

Some listeners have questioned how they blend traditional folk with other elements, but they've generally kept to their own approach. Their recordings tend to be sparse and deliberate, with tracks like 'Aatos' and 'Etäisyyksien taa' building slowly rather than rushing toward climaxes.
