The Hardkiss formed in Kiev around 2011, with singer Julia Sanina and guitarist Valeriy Bebko. Their first album, 'Stones and Honey,' came out the following year. Sanina had done some acting before the band started, but her voice became the center of their electro-pop sound.
Songs like 'Only Once' and 'Журавлі' show what they do well: Sanina's vocals floating over steady electronic beats. They've played shows internationally, and Sanina sometimes speaks up about LGBTQ+ rights, which has drawn some attention in Ukraine.
They put out another album called 'Cold Breeze Heat' a few years later. The band has been involved with some charity work over time, and Sanina has worked with UN Women. Their music keeps a fairly consistent style, melodic, mid-tempo pop with a slight edge.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
