Iʼve known rivers ancient and deep

Iʼve seen the ripples in the moonlight, and the secrets they keep

Rushing like a torrent, and carving the land

Picking up trees, the stone and the sand

And the cities of man, grow up from the ground

They grow up so tall, where the river runs down

Paris to London, Boston New Orleans

From the heartland down to dixie, out to the seven seas.
