Wings Of Doom

Daylight's about to break, and we're already up

I couldn't sleep, fear kept me alert

The briefing room today seems so unreal

Feels like I'm part of a film

My last mission should be a piece of cake

After all we had to take

But when the next target is revealed

I know my fate is sealed

I don't get the meaning of this war

And I pray as we take off

From England we fly straight to hell

Will I die? Only time can tell

Bullet ridden we strive, flak damaged again

I ride a fortress high

Through a hellish sky

Clouds are painted red

We are ravaged by swarms of fighters with guns

The smell of cordite mixed with guts

As the bomb run starts, creepy horror unfolds

Almost all our squad is gone

With bombs away we head back home

No planes left, we're all alone

Our job's been done and I just hope
