Vivalma formed in 2015 around vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Valeria Kessner, with guitarist Tomer Maoz and drummer Ohad Ben-Arie. Their music draws from classical, electronic, and experimental sources, landing somewhere in darkwave and gothic rock territory.
Their track 'Deviant' became their most recognized work, though it faced censorship in some countries in 2018 for its portrayal of self-harm. The band defended it as an honest reflection of difficult themes. They've released albums like 'Ashes to Ashes' in 2017 and 'Echoes of the Void' in 2020, along with EPs including 'Shadows in the Light' and 'Ghostly Embrace'.
Kessner handles vocals, keyboards, and cello while serving as the main songwriter. Maoz contributes guitars and backing vocals, and Ben-Arie provides drums and percussion. Their work includes the three-part 'Envision' series and songs like 'Locked And Fading'.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
