Votum formed in Warsaw in 2004, a Polish symphonic metal band built around vocalist Agnieszka Swita. They've put out albums like 'Idolatry' in 2005 and 'The Book of Shadows' in 2009, followed by 'Hippocampus' in 2011 and 'Private Hell' in 2013. Their songs include 'Away' and 'Blackened Tree'.
Swita had vocal cord surgery in 2010, which took her away from recording for a time. The band kept working, releasing 'Kamasutra' in 2017 and 'Metafiction' in 2019. Other members have included guitarist Krzysztof Szatkowski and bassist Adam Nergal.
Their music tends toward the atmospheric and introspective, with tracks like 'December 20th' and 'Falling Dream' showing that side. They're still based in Poland, with Swita's voice remaining central to their sound.
