Klinckt syn nootkreet in den verte,

Best vervolght gh' uw wegh naer huys en haert!
Met syn bende kwam hi lang gheleeden
Naer het Braebantsch land ghereeden,
Roovent ende plund'rent in den nacht,
Maer de boeren van den Peel
Hebben die met rieck en steel,
Schop en vleegel bloedich omgebracht.
De ridder en syn schildknaep, die ontkwaemen
Vluchtent in het veen tesaemen.
Nooit syn si ten ooverkant geraekt,
Doch in 't Dolle Moer verdroncken
Waer nog immer, diep verzoncken,
't Goud blinckt dat door hen werd buytgemaekt.
Tot men vint des ridders ghulden swaert
Sal hi doolen hier op aerd.
Versticken zult ge, doet valt u ten deel,
Door meely immer verder heen
Gedreeven in het drassich veen,
