Bad News formed in Poole, England in 1974 with Paul Gibson on vocals, John Waite on guitar, Bruce Bouillet on bass, and Brian Howe on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1977, and its lead single was a cover of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" that became a major hit in the UK.
That version of "Bohemian Rhapsody" stayed at number one for nine weeks. The band's own songs like "Drink Till I Die" and "Bad News" appeared on that same album. Gibson left in 1980 and was replaced by vocalist Chas Cronk.
They kept recording through the 1980s. Later tracks included "Bad Dreams Rehearsal" and the holiday song "Cashing In On Christmas."
