Charly Bliss is an indie rock band from Brooklyn, formed in 2012. The name comes from a line in the comic strip 'Calvin and Hobbes,' where the tiger Hobbes says, 'We're all doomed, Charly Bliss!' The group includes Eva Hendricks on vocals and guitar, Sam Hendricks on guitar and vocals, Dan Shure on bass, and Matt Matera on drums.
Their debut album 'Guppy' came out in 2017, followed by 'Young Enough' in 2019. Songs like 'Heaven' and 'Black Hole' capture their knack for catchy melodies and lyrics that feel personal without being overly dramatic. In 2018, the band addressed accusations of sexual misconduct against a former member, issuing a statement that condemned the alleged behavior.
They haven't released a full album since 'Young Enough,' but tracks like 'Bleach' and 'Camera' show a band comfortable with sharp, guitar-driven pop. There's no grand narrative here, just a group that writes songs people remember.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
