Dus ik deed of ik lachte en zei als een soort

Maar ze kreeg er niet zoveel van mee
Want inmiddels zong heel de coupe:

Ze liep naast me
In de loods
En het schouwspel was groots
En enorm imposant
Toen het dikste pakket
Op de lopende band
Werd geplet
Tot het dunste metaaldraad
Een gids liep voorop en vertelde vol vuur
Wat het stroomverbruik was en de temperatuur
En de kracht van de wals, als die acht keer per uur
Met het staalplaat
Aan de haal gaat
Maar ik heb er geen hout van verstaan
Want de hele fabriek zong spontaan
Allemaal!
Laaalaaa.....
Ze stond naast me
Bij de rand
En ik heb met mijn hand
Die beweging gemaakt
Die bij menigeen ruw-
Weg bekend is geraakt
Als een duw...
Ook al was het maar zwakjes...
Ze stopte met zingen en slaakte een gil
Het siste nog even en toen werd het stil
En toen kwam ze tevoorschijn uit twintig verschil-
Lende vakjes
En in plakjes
Er is niets zo meeslepend en vals
Als zo'n krachtige Hollandse wals!
