Ik liep van de week langs mijn oude school, en
zag ons op het plein -haar tot op de schouders,
wijde pijpen, hoge zool- verliefd, verliefd te
zijn. Je pukkel, je parka, sleepten op de grond
zoals je in m'n armen hing. De pauze één
knallende kus van een kwartier totdat de bel
weer ging. Was ik dat jaar maar blijven zitten.
Was ik maar niet van school gegaan. Ach, had
ik dat en dee jij ditte...
Zoals 't gegaan is, is 't gegaan.
Ik had al wel vaker vriendinnetjes gehad, maar
dat was nooit echt...echt. Al het allereerste uur
dat je naast me zat was onze toekomst
vastgelegd. We liepen de godganse dag hand
in hand, de hele school werd ziek. Van algebra
tot scheikunde, altijd bij elkaar - behalve dan
met gymnastiek.
Het advies luidde HAVO, maar je koos mijn
pakket. Zo bleven we bij elkaar. Ik hielp je
met huiswerk, maar dat deden we op bed, en
de school werd je te zwaar. Dan kreeg ik een 9
en had jij weer een 4; ook al had je goed
geleerd. Bij mij stond 'geslaagd' op het
eindrapport, maar jij was 'gedoubleerd'...
Was ik dat jaar maar blijven zitten, had ik m'n
best maar niet gedaan. Ach, had ik dat en dee
jij ditte... wat verander je eraan. Jij bleef op
school, ik kreeg een baan.
En zo, is het voorbij gegaan.
