Rüstet auf die Krieger sobald,
versammelt die Kämpen zur Königsburg.
Baut etliche Gruben zum Hinterhalt,
ein Heer stellt auf an der Unstrut.
Auf ihr edlen Krieger
für Herminafried!
Nicht Kampflos übergebt
den Feinden ihren Sieg!
Schwert und Flamme überzog das Land,
ein edles Geschlecht für immer gelöscht.
Zerstört die Burg die hier einmal stand,
keiner mehr lebend der die Sühne rächt.
531 war ein dunkles Jahr in der Geschichte Thüringens.
Blut von beiden Seiten tränkte die Walstatt.
Die Anzahl der waffengefällten formte schon eine Brücke über den Fluß,
so das man hinüberschreiten konnte mit trockenem Fuß.
Aber den Königsschatz, den die Feinde zu erbeuten hofften,
ward niemals gefunden.
Denn vergraben an geheimen Ort, ruht noch heute, unser Heiligtum,
der Thüringer Königshort.
